Report :
This was a terrific squad performance with everyone playing their part and it was also great to see 4 members of last season’s youth team contributing so well and the return of our suspended players.
Throughout the game we were dominant and Billy didn’t have a shot to save.
We scored twice in the first half and created a number of other good chances and in the second half we kicked on to add 4 more, although Leominster were a better side than their league position would suggest.
We knew that as things stand that we needed to score a few to improve our goal difference and we managed to do this and get some pride and confidence back after the defeat to Tenbury.
Miff, Harry, Willie and Wildpig all had chances but we took the lead after 27 minutes when Owen scored with a powerful header from Ryan’s corner and not long afterwards we scored again and this time whilst the provider was Ryan the header was scored by Miff who got up well to direct a powerful header into the net.
Prior to half time we were unlucky not to add to our score as Bryn also went close with a header which he headed down in text book fashion but it bounced over the bar.
In the second half we remained on top as we periodically added to our goals tally and probably should have had more than we got.
Ryan used his pace and ability to get away down the left and he cut the ball back into the path of George but he shot over when well placed.
We scored our third when George won a free kick just outside the box and Willie scored with a precision free kick into the corner giving the keeper no chance.
Luke then showed great ability and control before having a powerful shot blocked and Jordan probably should have scored on a couple of occasions when first he played a one two with Ryan and used his pace to break the defensive line and go round the keeper but somehow he put his final touch wide and then he once again used his pace to great advantage to go past his marker but he stabbed his shot wide.
Eventually Jordan got the reward that his general play deserved when Luke set him up and he rode a defenders challenge to score and shortly afterwards Luke won a penalty which Rory dispatched confidently to make it 5 despite the keepers attempts at sledging – Leominster style.
Rory hit a screamer but luckily the keeper was in just the right place to make the save, otherwise he wouldn’t have smelt it and we got goal number six when Miff scored another header from Ryan’s corner.
